I didn't know exactly how to start this thread, but I guess the best way is just to ask?
How many of you work at the place you work, the hours your work, the wages you make, because it is convenient for or benefits others, like children, SO, DH's, ya know family.
And would you prefer to work somewhere else, different hours, heck maybe different field all together, if you thought of just "you".
And how many of you stay at the job you are at, because you would feel guilty if you left?
I'll share a little of why I am asking. Been offered a different job, but requires traveling and some changes, which is inconvenient for others. I'll have to think about it. ya know?
just asking?

Ursula, youv'e got it. The hours, distance, schedule are comprimises I make to benefit my family. Maybe when kids are grown I can get the job I wish I had now.
Or maybe I'll be ready for that Walmart greater job by then..:)

I had a chance about 2 years ago to work baylor in the ER that I worked in at the time. Fri and Sat 7P to 7A and get paid for 36. I wanted it so bad.
Tried to talk hubby into it. He was adamant. NO WAY. He works Mon-Fri days and decided we would never have any time together on the weekends.
To keep the peace I didn't even apply for it. Instead about 1 1/2 years ago I went agency. (Better pay, pick my own days/shifts etc.) But, I miss the ER terribly.
Eventually, when youngest son is off to college, want to do travel nursing. Hubby can come with if he wants, if he doesn't, oh well.
I think you need to talk to everyone the new job might affect and talk out you feelings about it. Hope it all works out for you.
