Hi,

Hello here, new student nurse from Chicago. Final two years until BSN. It did take 6 years for my associates and now am going full time. Well, I did change my major two or three times but, finally singled it out for the BSN. :) Super grateful to get accepted at St. Xavier University's program!

I've been in health care for 15 years. Worked as an EMT-A/Fire-fighter, as a home health assistant, as a CNA, as a Patient care tech, as a Patient care assistant and currently as a combination phlebotomist, lab tech and sort of a non-certified med assistant.

With the team based model at my current hospital there is a lot of cross training for their assistants. As a patient care assistant I get to use my phlebotomy, (glad I'm state certified though and not the one week corman training.) Also get to do 12 lead ekg's which I think are so interesting, (I hand those right off to the nurse of doc to read.) I couldn't even count the number of foley catheters and straight caths I've done on the floor. One little rant about that is that I do love my job and take it seriously some of my co-assistants find it to be a dead end position rather than a team effort. Pity, they make it harder on all of us, assistants and the nurses. I am so glad to be at my company's women's health center!! Truly the best health care atmosphere that I've worked at. Although, it isn't the hospital and is different, I've worked at one other outpatient facility before and three hospitals. Its still hard work, (as every health care position I've ever had before was!)

Nice to meet you. End of introduction. Now on to my navigation troubles if anyone can offer insight.

Seems the only way I'm able to view any threads is through the 'active threads' link. I'm using explorer and when I'm at the homepage and try to click on a thread I get a blank screen.

I've clicked on Canadian nurses and got a blank screen, same with student nurses then when go to todays active I see that both the canadian and student nurse threads do indeed have posts.

Is this how it goes or have I just not got the hang of it yet? :)

Welcome to the BB!

You should be able to go into any thread active or not so there might be something up with your connection.

Hope you get it worked out and make it to the student board, lot's of good stuff there!

Another thing you could try is to add the website to your favorites list. Then when you click on its name, it takes your right there. It's easy, and saves a lot of work.
