Hi. How should a nurse dress for an interview? I don't feel comfortable being overdressed which happened at my first interview. (i got the job the second time in plain street clothes) How would an interviewer expect for the new nurse to dress? Dressed in scrubs. Plain street clothes. Oxford and tie or just something nice?

I usually dress business casual or business attire.

Business professional. Suit/skirt suit, stockings, jackey, etc. I'm not comfortable being over dreased either....but i think anyone can suck it up for an hour of their life. I'm curious as to where you got hired in plain street clothes. Where I live, they'd either tell you to leave or have a short interview as a formality, and never call you again.

Business attire. Slacks/khakis with Oxford and tie sound like a good idea. It's better to be over dressed unless the interviewer specifically tells you no need to dress up.

I have a good reputation at my former job (I think) and they were going to hire me but I couldn't accept due to personal reasons.

Why is this even a question? No scrubs, no street clothes...this screams unprofessionalism. What's wrong with wearing business professional for a 1 hour interview? It makes the best impression on an interviewer. I've interviewed many nurses in my career and business professional wins hands down.

Business or business casual, though if you're unsure of what constitutes business casual in the setting, go business. A nice blouse and pants or a suit is always appreciated, even if the position you're applying for necessitates scrubs.
