The interview went really well but

by GFzalez

I didn’t hear anything back, the position starts on Monday (my interview was last Friday) The hospital is having another new grad orientation in a few months. I have the business card of the HR person whom I interview with.
My question is what do I do now? I already sent a thank you email to the HR person after my interview and requested the email of the nurse manager I spoke to but I haven’t heard anything yet. Should I call and ask if there is anything I can do to improve my odds of being hired on the next round of applicants? If so, how should I ask and what other questions should I include? Also what should I do in the meantime.
Eh… The worst part was I did my best, which was surprisingly well considering it was my first interview since graduating in the end of May . I honestly can’t think of anything I can improve upon. (the NM even said "good answear" to one of my response!) I know that there were a lot of applicants for the few positions, the economy, yatta yatta yatta… But it still stinks not having a job.

Thanks!

First of all, hang in there!

Sounds like you did everything you needed to do during the interview. Don't be afraid to call the manager or HR and see if the job was filled. If it was, ask/email the NM and ask for some feedback, and ask "what could I have done to be a better applicant". Not only will it give you something to work on, but it also keeps your name in front of them for future positions you might apply for.

In the meantime, just keep looking and keep applying. This cycle will turn back around and the jobs will come back. Good luck!

I would contact the NM to see if all position were filled and if there is any feedback the NM can offer you. Bummer

I think you already did what you're supposed to do. If you want, and if you're gutsy, you're going to call in to follow up your application. You don't even have to speak to the nurse manager or the HR person you emailed. Just ask, and i'm sure if the position has been filled, they will tell you upfront. Be prepared to hear this. If not, then maybe you still have a shot. Just keep applying and don't give up.

Good Luck!

WOW congrats on the interview. If you don't mind....can you let me know what questions they ask? I myself have been looking for a new grad position and having the worst of luck. It seems that however many positions i apply, no one dares to call me for an interview and i don't know why?!?!!? I've applied to RN I positions and seems to get an e-mail that the position's been filled by an internal candidate or someone else!!!!! Any advice......
