Would appreciate some help here. What can I be expected to be asked in my interview later today? I am interviewing for an ICU job in Texas, and it's a phone interview. Please help me prepare! Any sample interview questions?

I wish i knew....I also am expected to interview today via telephone for a job, only mine is in L&D. THe only advice I've gotten so far is tell the interviewer why you want to work in that unit, any experience you have, etc. Good luck and best wishes to you!

Thanks a lot! Good luck to you too!

Employers are looking for the skill, knowledge, education, and experience to do the basic job. They are also looking for people who will help them grow their business meaning a good attitude, professionalism, strong work ethic, teamwork, and good customer service skills.

I would be prepared to tell them why I should be hired and what I will bring to their hospital/organization. A good interviewer will ask just a few open ended questions and let you do most of the talking, so, I would focus on being prepared to tell them about myself and why they should hire me.

Good luck with it!!

Best of Luck with your interview today. Here's a Great Resource I use for Interview Questions. It's free and is online at http://www.HospitalSoup.com.

What I really like is not only do they have sample questions that you will be asked during an interview, but they also have a section on questions that you should ask a potential employer. Great site also, if you want to research a hospital online before you interview and they also have job listings if you're looking for a job.

I found some good job prospects on the HospitalSoup site, and have two interviews scheduled next week for a critical care job. I've only worked med-surg before on a regular basis, but I've taken my ACLS and think I'm ready to move on to more challenges. I'm a bit nervous but am told the hospitals I'm interviewing with have some good critical care internship programs so hopefully things will work out ok.

Good luck to everyone who's interviewing. Hope this helps you all.

Thank you Nurse LJ...that was a great link! Very helpful.

Sue, thanks for your good luck wishes. I had the interview and it went very well, although the guy interviewing me seemed more keen on talking about himself and his travels and kids than asking about me. Seemed he was trying to sell me the job too. I haven't heard yet but I get a sneaking suspicion I am going to decline the job if they make an offer. On reflection Texas is just too far from my partner, and we've waited so long to be together it would just be unfair to expect me to live on the wrong side of the country. I am going to hold out for something on the East Coast.

Do you have to pay to use this site? I can't find any information regarding interviews.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, GJ
