indiana nursing salaries

Hey all,

I am wondering what fellow Hoosiers are making per hour or yearly. I will graduate in May with LPN and then in 2004 with ASN and haven't decided yet where I'm going to go.

Please include title, location, and department/specialty, along with salary of course.

Have been a RN (ASN) for 7.5 years, work in a 325-bed facility 50-mi south of Indianapolis in open heart recovery unit and make $20.73/hr. With overtime, make about $42,000 to $45,000/yr.

NW Indiana--also Porter County--20 years of RN experience, BSN. $23.52/hr (down from $28/hr. when I was working in Chicago) + shift diff of 50 cents an hour for PMs and 75 cents for nights. I don't know if they pay charge or not since I just came here and won't be in charge for awhile. I was getting really tired of the almost 100 mile round trip into Chicago everyday, but the pay cut was pretty amazing......Benefits are much better though, so I should more than make up the difference in gas, wear-and-tear, tolls, and medical expenses.

My benevolent employer offers benefits of a sort: health/dental/vision insurance is availablebut, if you're part time like I am (0.6 FTE) the cost is prohibitive, i.e., >$100.00 a month vs about $45.00 a month for FTE's. FTE is 0.9, by the way, and 0.5 and under aren't eligible for anything. When staffing is in the toilet, like it usually is because they count security guys and ward clerks as part of staffing, part-timers are expected to jump in and work extra shifts to cover the shortages.( I've lost track of the number of pay periods when I've worked 80+ hours:( ) And they can't figure out why there's a nursing shortage.
