Im off of Night Shift!!!

Hello Nurses!

After working for 11 months on nights a position opened up for day shift... I put my name in, and got the job. I will now be working 12s 6a-6p in the ER.

This is great, and not so great for various reasons. Here is the list of pros and cons.

Pros
1) Having a regular sleeping schedule
2) actually SEEING my husband
3) being awake to do things on my days off

Cons
1) I love my night shift girls (with few exceptions)
2) 2 bucks less an hour.... I get paid less to deal with MORE patients
3) I miss the PM Docs!

I have many more for each category, but they pretty much come up equal... the overwhelming pro was being home at night and sleeping normal hours.

I'm still adjusting to my new coworkers and stuffier atmosphere, but things are going well. Atleast I can begin to have some what of a normal existence again.

Happy Day.

good luck......i am not a "night person" but am working night shift out of necessity right now. I look forward to the day when i can work a normal workweek (and yes it is possible in nursing, just not in OB). THAT will be the DAY. Congrats to you Brandy and welcome to the Land of the Living.

Congrats....Sigh.....Do you have children? Nights works for that...I liked, on my few day positions, that however busy it was, I was happy and normal when I got home....I would miss the comeraderie and closeness most night shift people attain, but that is about it. I am on nights until the very last night ( mine, that is..) HAPPY for you, though!
