Yeah, I know we all come to vent here.

And my workplace is not perfect, there are problems just like anywhere. The union is necessary.

BUT: I like the nurses I work with. On the whole, they dig in and get things done. We have widely varying opinions on how to do things best, but we are all trying our best! If I ask somebody for help, I get it, no attitude, sometimes "it'll be a minute", but never a "no". The new grads listen and learn and try hard. The travelers tend to be of high quality. The regulars are a good group to be around.

The majority of docs listen when you say someone is going bad or needs attention NOW. If I don't need the doc in there this minute but want to order a treatment or test ahead of time, they trust us; yes we have protocols and don't always need permission directly but the point is, they trust our judgment. If I call a doc and request pain/nausea meds, I get a phone order or a good reason why not. They ask my opinion, and let me pick their brains.

Most of my techs bust it, get more done than is reasonable, and have pretty good attitudes. If they can't do what I want right away, its because they're busy with something else.

Don't always like the changes that come down from above with no input from the people who actually have to do the work; but I think that's a universal thing...

One of my perdiem staffers sits in main office 1/2 day due lack computer space, told me this week " your staff gets twice as much work done and works the hardest cause work TOGETHER"

Boss on friday told me that my department working smoothly with all branch offices.

Tis great when people work together as a team.

Sounds like you work where I do... That is great you have great co-workers, tech and MD's that listen.. It is a nice feeling.. Of course we have our problems but I don't think I would be happy any other place at the moment.. :)

I am happy to say its the same for me! Nothing is 100% perfect all the time, I agree. But my copeeps are great, RNs, Techs, even most of the Docs!

My coworkers are the reason I love my job and my shift, but even the organization is pretty damn good. :)

There is such a thing as a good work environment. One of the ERs I do per diem at is great. And I have worked staff at a great one too. It's nice to hear and share the positive for a change.

I just want to add that I love where I work too. I worked in one unit for the first 3 years of my nursing career. Everyone had a bad attitude, we were overworked and understaffed, we weren't supported by our director. I was depressed and worn down. I was on allnurses everyday complaining and venting about my life and job.....

Last February I moved to a different unit in the same hospital. What a difference it has made in my life. My coworkers are awesome. We work as a team and are supported by our director. I'm being intellectually challenged and I love it. I'm even closer with the doctors now being in ICU. It is amazing how much the attitude amongst your coworkers can change your life!!! LOVE MY NEW JOB!!

I love where I work too. I work on assisted living in a LTC facility. I've been an LPN for almost two years and worked at this place for almost 1 year. My boss is awesome, she will help no matter what. My aids are hard workers and I keep encouraging them to go to nursing school. Our facility doctor is pretty awesome too. Never nasty on the phone and answers our faxes pretty quick. I :redbeathe:heartbeat:redpinkhe my career and my job!
