so, ive never really done this before. but i feel like i need to vent. i am an lpn in a nursing home. i have worked there for almost nine years, 4.5 as an stna. i work on an alzheimers unit through the week. on the weekends i get pulled to another hall. im not whining, but this hall i get pulled to, i get a very vague report EVERY weekend even though shes been there for like 30 years, she acts like she doesnt know whats going on. i think its because if you act like you dont know, you dont get blamed for what didnt get done. the nurse who i give report to at the end of shift, she expects me to know evertyhing thats going on with everybody, even if i know nothing about them, or it was never charted. things just dont get passed on. also, i can never find what i need, meds arent there, creams are gone, etc. anyway, i asked repeatedly to not get pulled out there. i put it in writing to staff development, don, and scheduler. still i get pulled. and they hired a brand new lpn for the weekends to work on my unit. im the only full time day shift nurse they pull, other than the floats, who dont mind being pulled. i wouldnt mind either, but i get pulled to a messed up hall, and i dont want to be apart of it. today i am told this new nurse is on my hall on the weekends for her "convenience." WHAT??? ive been a devoted employee there for 9 years! why do i have to be the pushover? because its easy & they know they can do it? do i go to corporate next & find out what the "policy & procedure" is on pulling nurses to different halls? shouldnt we all have to deal with it sometimes or just one nurse who you know will put up with it? ahhh, i need a new job.
