Soon...Something that helps me is word association...Use the med in a sentence, usually a goofy one that makes you chuckle. Confuses people, but it works. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!:p

I didn't study in school, because I didn't know how! So I had to absorb my info from lectures. I found if I REALLY concentrated in class, it was better than my feeble attempts at studying.

Is there a student services department, or something similar at your school? Some places offer short classes on teaching people how to study.

Hang in there, and good luck! I wish I could be of some help!

this may or may not work. But try taking a tape recorder to class with you and then listen to the tape in the evening. Med surg nursing can be brutal. Fundamentals seemed just a little difficult then med surg they get you thinking like a nurse. I had been working on my RN and just got burnt out and am currently working as a cna until I'm ready for nursing school again. But try to get the overall concept and not memorize details, use your nclex book, read the rationales for each answer. Another idea is flash cards, study just an hour at a time. I find the more I study the more I forget. Pharmacology is a hard course. Listen to the teacher, take good notes, and ask questions.

Hello Purple Princess. I have noted that you have already recieved some great advice. One thing that I wanted to contribute is when you are taking your pharmacology do not miss a class. If you do, it will be very hard to catch back up. I never studied so hard in my life, or cried, or prayed as much as I did through nursing school. But one thing I had as my motto - Quitters Never Win So Never, Never, Never Give Up. I had been out of school thirty five years when I went back to get my nursing. The stress was awful but the reward of accomplishing my goal made it worth it in the end. So study, study, study. You know, sometimes it helps to have a classmate explain what the teacher is trying to get across. Sometimes hearing it from the words of a peer can help you understand better. I am sure you will do just fine. blueeyednurse
