I must be getting old: A rant - page 5

I just got off the elevator with yet another person cracking their gum, mouth wide open. It wouldn't have been so bad except she was nicely dressed in a suit, and her hair was neatly done.... Read More

I went with my boyfriends brother the other day to urgent care and he was seen by a doctor who was chewing gum with his mouth open. He was smacking it around in his mouth and it was very obnoxious. It was one of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen. Since when is it ok to chew gum, let alone smack it, while you are treating a patient!?

Well I just turned 31 and grew up in the golden age of MTV. I remember when the VMA's used to be must see television. I hadn't watched them in a few years and tuned in this year and was shocked by how loud everything was. Hubby is turning 30 and he kept wondering why so many bright lights were flashing all over the screen. Didn't know half of the bands on the show either. We are officially no longer the MTV generation.

UGH! I know! I just about fell out of my chair when I saw her interview with Matt Lauer. Here she is expecting her second child, dressed like a trailer trash ho, her boobs falling out of her shirt, chomping on gum on national television. Good LORD!
    That appearance was pretty bad.

Perfume and cologne aren't allowed for the staff where I work. Too bad we can't enforce the same with the general public! The gum thing is disgusting, and the "underwear as outerwear" look makes me CRAZY. And what's with the current renaissance of spitting? Don't people know this is how TB is spread? Bad enough people are doing this outside, but I've seen people do it INSIDE, too! YUCK!!!

MTV started to go downhill with "The Real World" and all the crazy camera work. They lost me then and there and I was only 22 years old.

when a person is wearing extremely tight pants, lines form in the crotch area that resemble actual "camel toes." please click on the link below for more information and enlightenment.

Ok, I chew gum at work-although I try to chew as quietly as possible. I find that the masks we wear in the OR can give you funky breath(as well as the multiple cups of coffee I drink on my break) and when I go to interview my patients in holding, I don't want them to be offended. I do alternate the gum with mints sometimes.
I completely agree with the perfume/cologne thing. I also hate long nails, oversize earrings(especially when you're scrubbed!) and the fact that people don't know how to dress appropriately for special occasions or church.
I also think thongs are nasty-they're also bad for your cooter(they make you more prone to UTI's). I think I'd sooner go without undies than wear the butt floss panties again.

Sharon you are right. I loved the first "real world" and watched the london one because a friend was a housemate on it, but other than that it got old quick. They lost me when it became a hassle to find music and videos on music television. At this point they have all "shows" and no videos. I think TRL (total request live) comes on at like 3 am or something equally ridiculous.

P.S. Plus when you've seen the umpteenth thousand Rap video with booty shakin girls or the umpteenth thousand rock video with boobie shakin girls, you do grow up and get bored.
