hey guys, i have gotten myself into a pickle. i aplied for a job a great distance from my house and got called in for a interview. when i wnet to the interview i find out that this hospital is associated with my current job, and the nurse recruiter and unit manager i met with were very eager for me to work there, they told me that they could just call my current job and work out a transfer date, they also siad all my benefits and senority would transfer in. heres the problem, they never offered me the position ( i think they assume that i will take it) and i dont want the position becsue i will be taking a paycut and the drive is about 20mins longer than my current job, also i think they already called my job and told them that i would be transferring even though i dont want to. i am scared my current supervisor will be upset with me and hr at my current job will make me transfer!!!!! i called the other job that i interviewd for today (the interview was yesterday) and told the nurse recruiter i couldnt take the job (left a voicemail) and she called me back and left a voicemail saying "i hope it wasnt you that called and said i cant take the job" she asked me to call her back to clarify things and i did but i had to leave another message, but she hasnt called me back yet. what do you guys think????? do you think they assumed i would take the job? did they already call my job? will my supervisor be upset with me and try to fire me? will hr make me transfer????? please someone talk to me i am so nervous and scared, i feel like i really screwed myself

I think that you might be worying yourself sick prematurely. Noone has the right to assume that you're taking a job, unless you specifically told them that you are taking a job. And even then, I would think that you have a right to change your mind too. You didn't sign any hire or transfer forms yet, did you? ...And since it all happened yesterday, even if they managed to transfer you that fast, there's no way they have your old position filled yet.

Remember, you are a free person, you have the right to say no and you have the right to change your mind. I have to remind myself of that very often too :wink2: ...And if they somehow tricked you out of your old position, well then the job wasn't worth it anyway. There are plenty better ones our there.

Good luck

well guys i decided to stay at my current job. my supervisor didnt find out anything as far as im concerned. i called the recruiter and told her my decision she already knew about the difference of pay and my concern so i didnt bother asking because i figured theyd say no anyway. i am happy with my decision becasue i fell as though it was the best choice for me at the time. if this oppurtunity came about 3months later i probably would have accepted it. i also figured that more oppurtunities will come along and now i will be better prepared for them. i thank you all for your advice and support!!! you guys are the best:)

I just want to throw out, the we CAN demand more money. When I was offered my job last December, they called all excited saying, We are pleased to offer you this position at this pay.... I got real quiet and said, I am sorry, but I am going to have to refuse. She said, Excuse me? I said, I am worth more than what you offered me and even though I really want the job, it has to be for now less than ..... It took them about 10 minutes to call me back with the pay I demanded. :roll

I just want to throw out, the we CAN demand more money.

AMEN to that.

JKM...please don't ever sell yourself short. You didn't get more money offerred because you didn't ask. I can almost guarantee you won't ever get anything you want until you tell them you want it. And so what if they don't give it to you; what have you lost by asking? And if they do meet your expectations...hooray for you.

I previously applied for a job at hahnamenn hospital, a tenet facility and interviewed and got hired today, the day of the interview. i am so thrilled because i have been trying to get into this hospital for a long time, i actually interviewed for a job before in december 04 but i believe that position was given to an internal candidate. well i have typed up my two weeks notice and i will be handing it in tonight!!!! i really dont want to stay at my current job for another two weeks but im trying to be professional. well i gotta run my shift starts at three!!!!!!

well i went to work and worked the whole shift without saying a word about my new job. it was a reallly good night at work, see thats that thing, when things are good at my job they are really good, but the bad is horrible and makes you just wanna quit. maybe i will give notice friday, my supervisor was off today and i wanted to talk to her and not just leave a note in her door. oh yeah, hers a little more about the new position: its fulltime nights 11-7 (big change), its on a cardiac care unit, the pt satisfaction scores for this unit have been 100% for about the couple months( i tink this is a good indicator about the staff too, because staff has to be happy to providew excellent 5 star care), its a union position and after my probation i will be making almost $5/hr than my current salary.....what more could i ask for?? i am really excited yet a little scared to leave my comfort zone, but i know this knew position is really in my best intrest right now, so i am gonna go for it and pray that it is a choice that i wont regret, thanks for reading, bye for now
