I did call the doctor ..... and the vital signs are stable over 3 hours........ I am worried about will it harm the patient severely....I am a new grad... I know I am stupid..........

Did the doctor order any labs? Does she have labs scheduled in the morning?

Unfortunately these things happen. Figure out what happened and work to never repeat it. I would do a bit of research on this medication if you haven't already and that will give you an idea as to the adverse reactions that might be expected. Don't beat yourself up but do learn from it. Hang in there.

Right you've done the first best thing by calling the physician. Next research for yourself- it would better calm you and you would know so much more about it to prevent future med error.

Sorry to hear about your med error. The sinking feeling in your stomach when you realize what happened is one of the worst feelings ever. It sounds like you're doing the right things, and you got some good advice here.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity here, this isn't a drug I'm familiar with. I've been looking and can't find any information on IV dosing (only PO). What is a typical IV dose?

It doesn't look like there is a IV dose for this med. Did you use a topical cream and inject it? Or crush a pill and inject it? Or is this a joke...

Voltaren is an enteric coated NSAID. How did you give it IV? Did you mean something else, such as Verapamil?

As first I was wondering that too, but Wikipedia shows a picture of a vial for IV/IM use.
