I am not sure I can take one more day of this....

Nurses General Nursing

For the past 4 years (almost) I have been in school for nursing, and all I can think is that I want out... I have had enough of friday night dates with my desk, and having no life and being 4 hours away from home and going to classes that I hate. I hate all my classes this semester and all I can say is that I feel like it is busy work. that they needed to make the degree 4 years so right now I am waisting my time with stupid classes.

I have spent the past 4 years learnign something that I am not even sure I wanna do but i have always said i can't change until I have a plan... But I can't think of a plan that I would liek better. SO here I am.

Maybe it will get better when I am in my final placement. but right now I am counting down the days, and they are going so slowly since I have more work to do than I can get done in a normal day so their is no sleeping. and when I try to sleep I feel guilty for not having all my work done yet so I can't sleep.

that was my little vent.

thanx for lisening,

SR

All the work you have to do on top of the lack of sleep is taking its toll...I would really try and get some extra sleep and do a little bit of relaxing. It's great that you came here to talk and let those feelings out...I felt exactly like you do when I was in school...it was something that came and went though and after talking and venting to my friend always felt better. My only other advice for you right now is to hang in there, finish school...you are almost done...and then decide if it's for you or not. Chin up and stay strong!!

I can empathize with u completely. I felt the same way my last yr of nursing school. U are so close to reaching the finish line. U would feel much worse if u did not follow thru than u do at this time. U should cut loose and release some of your stress. Just know your not alone nor the only one who has ever felt this way. Venting is good! Take care and good luck!

go for a mind-clearing ride on the weekend and hang in there

TAKE THE WEEKEND OFF!! (even better that's it's a 3 day one!)

Spend time with people you really enjoy, and laugh as much as possible!! Rent a funny movie!

Meanwhile, I'll pray that some evil prof doesn't give you a last minute assignment due on Monday. ;)

I had a similar meltdown ~ Christmas in my senior year. I was in icky, cold Camden, my family had to move to the west coast that September, there was a wedding I was going to miss, and after Christmas, my Dad was being deployed. I was one sorry little Student Nurse.

The Nun in charge of the school let me go home for 3 wks. Then, after graduation, I stayed there to make up the clinical time.

I know you can't duck out for 3 whole weeks, but @ least the weekend might be time enough for an attitude adjustment!

GOOD LUCK, kiddo! Hang in there!

You have made it this far- don't give up now. I know, it seems like an endless hell, but there is an end. I, as well as most nurses, felt the same way. I worked 40 + hours a week and went to school FT as well. It is SO worth it in the end. I promise you. Stick it out= you will never regret it.
