Hypochondriac Nurses

Nurses General Nursing

I've never really considered myself a hypochondriac, but since just starting a new job in a Cardiovascular Care Unit I find myself almost obsessing over my own health and the health of my family. It has made me think how incredibly lucky I am to have good health and how it can change at any time. As a brand new CNA I realize that this is probably normal, but I just can't seem to shake the blues I've had since starting this job. Anyone else experience this? :o

It's a mixed blessing being a nurse. Every day I take care of patients and count my blessings. Also, whenever a family member or friend, or even myself get's sick, I know the potential outcomes.

Lately, I've been a bit of a hypochondriac regarding some GI symptoms. I've diagnosed myself with an ulcer, and know they can rupture the vicous, get septic, etc. LOL (I've got a doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks.)

As far as obssessing, hopefully that will diminish with time. Good luck!
