How would I renew my CNA license?

I've been avoiding the inevitable and have been around nursing all my life. I'm good at it or at least like to think so, but I was just wondering if there was a website or a contact number that I would need to renew my license for my Certified Nurse's Assistant. I went to the training class in April of 2004 here in Texas and I was working at a nursing home at the time. I didn't like the way the residents were treated by the staff; it didn't seem as though the ladies I worked with really cared and did just enough to slide by which upset me on more occasions than one. I want to get back into nursing for job security and satisfaction of the job that I get from just helping people, but I need to know where to go to get started again.

Please, if you have any information regarding CNA license renewal, please reply. Any information would be most helpful.

Since it's been so long you may have to re-take the whole course. It varies state by state.

I would give the government of which state you live in a call. They normally have information regarding nurses on their website (at least in Delaware they do) and give you contact information for re-newing your license, and becoming a CNA (or nurse).

Since it's been so long, you may have to re-take the entire course as stated above. Or, you must just be able to test out again. Good luck!

Thank you. My mother was a nurse for 30 years and she passed away not too long ago. Most of my family has either been a nurse, pharmacist or full blown doctor. It runs in the blood, I suppose :)

But I do appreciate the reply and with the help of my wonderful wife, found a contact number.

Bottle of PowerAde: $1.83

Filling up gas-tank: $25.01

Calling the Texas Board of Nurses and finding out that my license is still active and doesn't expire until June of this year: Priceless.

Specializes in ER, Medicine.

Here's the website.

*All nurses has changed considerably since I signed up in 2004. I don't know if the rules about website postings have changed. As it is 3:28am...I'm not giving much of a darn right now. Night nurse, I will never be.*
