How was Nurses Week celebrated at your Facility

I know these are difficult financial times. To acknowledge Nurses Week at our facility, someone taped a sheet of paper outside a door leading to our unit that said "HAPPY NURSES WEEK".

That was all. Not that we needed to have a luxurious luncheon or flowers or candy. This was a computer generated sheet with the words. I guess at least it wasn't handwritten in magic marker and the words were spelled correctly.:loveya:

We got a cheap mug with the hospital logo (not even a happy nurse's week on there). We got to fill it up with soda for $0.69 @ cafeteria.

For X-mas we usually got a free meal and 20 dollar gift card. Not this past year.

Millions in profit are raked in yearly...............yet I work for a "non-for-profit organization".

Too funny!

At my other job, (correctional facility), we got an American Express gift card with a thank you note ($25.00). Very thoughtful.

I don't think it was. or is. The CNO did send out a letter to our families, saying something vapid about their sacrifices, blah, blah, blah, and ended it with a phrase that included these offensive words "my nurses." Excuse me?

We get to have a Pot luck meal---> "Just remember to make enough for all"

And we got a coupon to a nearby restaurant

Let's just say... not too thrilled :o

For working for a large magnet hospital we did not get anything. Granted I am night shift and I am not sure if day shift got anything but not us night shifters. I am really disappointed this is my first nurses week.

Hate to rub it in.....At our LTC we had a seafood buffet with crab legs, crab cakes, fried and steamed shrimp, bacon-wrapped scallops, fried chicken wings, chesecake, all the fixings. One hospice sent a ton of donuts and another sent a sheet cake. They're doing breakfast for us in the a.m. But I will say that in over 30 years of nursing, other places either ignored it or gave something really tacky like a keychain. Anyway, Happy Nurse's Week to all! (burp!)....:smokin:

Oh my! Some of these facilities should be ashamed of theirselves! We had a blessing of the hands by our chaplain, a pizza for lunch day, polo style shirts with our facility name on them, and this was at the hospital where I work. At the elementary school where I work all the kids made me art work, teachers gave me cards and gifts and the principal bought me lunch and so did the PTA on another day. I could not imagine working at a place where I was not valued as a person or a nurse. I am sure that is hurtful. Well, I think you are all AWESOME! HAPPY NURSE'S WEEK!
