How much do you pay for daycare?

Just wondering what other nurses are paying for care to make myself feel better after seeing the sticker shock today for my own kid's daycare! :bored:

I have a 2 year old, 5 year old, and 8 year old. 3 days a week = $1,300/month. Does that sound crazy or no? More than my mortgage. Granted I have the peace of mind my kids will be in a safe place, and that's priceless, but the price tag hurts.

My husband works nurse hours even though he isn't one so even working opposite shifts won't work because we always have a gap plus I guess we need to sleep at some point too :sarcastic:

It really is reflective of where you live. I live near Boston and in the Longwood medical area which is where all the big hospitals are, day cares there charge an average of $2,000/month for full time care for one infant. When I worked in Washington, DC, prices were similar. 15 miles North of Boston where I live, the JCC charges about $1800/month for full time infant care. It slowly declines as the kids get a little older. Nannies in my area charge anywhere from $18-$24/ hour. It's crazy!

I pay $800 a month for my 2.5 year old son to go three days a week.

3 kids

75/day 5 days a week, 375 a week x52 weeks =19,500 per year. Roughly 1600ish per month

But she comes to my house, cleans up and takes/picks up from school.

Shes a family member that cared for me as a child. Takes them to all appointments so its worth it to me.

Sounds like a dream!!- LOL

$400/mo for my 3 year old & he goes M-F. But I live in the country so the daycare isn't as fancy as those in the city.
