well i guess i am not in the 'normal' category....i took boards back in feb. of 87, when you had two days of intense tests, 250 or so questions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon on both days...i failed....so i had to wait until june of 87 and took them again, the same way, and unfortunately the same result, i failed again...took them again in feb88, and finally passed, back then you didnt find out forever, and got my licence on april first, of course i thought it was just a joke, but now am so happy that i passed, of course on some days i think god was trying to send me a message to get out, lol

Once, than you Jesus...But, I went to a hospital school and we were told that if we didn't know our stuff by then, we wouldn't know it at all....They told us not to worry about studying med surg, as we had clinical in that area for 3 years...I studied pediatrics and ob the most, which is ironic, as I hated it and that is where I find myself..
They told us to have a good breakfast and relax..What I recall is that it was horrifically hot and the place we were was non air conditioned. I got my period, and the person next to me went into labor...I also vividly recall, since my school specialized in diabetes, thinking Oh, thank God, when I saw those questions , while the person next to me, from a different school, was in tears for the same reason....They didn't specialize in diabetes...
We were asked to stick around and do the experimental test, but too many people were fainting from the heat...That was 1981....

Oh, I should mention that of the several people I have known who for some reason did not pass their boards the first time, they are among some of the finest nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with.....

I also went to a diploma school with a 100 percent pass rate. BUT, even though the actual testing and wait was horrible, we all went out the night before our results were due to come in and I felt ok because I had dreamed that I passed and something about the number 15...No one, including me , could understand why I was so calm....But, the results came in the next day and part of my license number has, you guessed it, the number 15....

    I passed after my first attempt. . . over 10 years ago. . .

There was a 98% passage rate from A.S program!

It only took me once. I was scared because a nurse I know told me that she was so scared when she completed the 75th question and the questions comtinued. I think she did 76. I did 79 and the machine shut down. I think it only took me about 1/2 hour. When I passed the 75th question I was so scared, but I kept going and when the machine finally shut off I felt better. I was so scared to open my results. I opened the letter and looked in the envelope and all I could see was "has passed" I was so excited. I know a nurse that took it three times before she passed, but she is an excellent nurse.

Tried once and passed. Back in 1988, the test was not on computer; it was that awful 'fill in the bubble with a pencil' stuff. 4 sections, 200 questions each over 2 days. I think we were allowed 3 hrs per section but I could be wrong about that. It was a long time ago.

Forgot to say this first time I posted--we had to wait 6 weeks before getting our results in the mail!
