Specializes in Hospice / Psych / RNAC.

>15 years:

Job 1: 11 months

Job 2: 14 months

Job 3: 2 years

Job 4: 3 years

Job 5: 8 years and going

All were full-time and permanent positions. I went from home health to LTC to hospice to psych and then settled down.

All the nurses I know have worked in more then one job. Othen times it's hard to find the right mix and until a nurse does they usually need to take what comes (some experience is better then no experience). My resume expands over 3 states due to my moving for persoal reasons.

Specializes in Psych (25 years), Medical (15 years).

I've had 17 positions in 11 different facilities in nearly 28 years.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Transplant, Education.

I've been a nurse for 2 years, 2 months...been at my present job since I became licensed :-)

Specializes in Peds Medical Floor.

I was an aide for a few years and have been a nurse for the rest. Same facility for 9 years!

Specializes in Management, Emergency, Psych, Med Surg.

I have been a nurse for 32 years. I have had a number of different jobs but some have been promotions at the same facility. I have worked in three different states.

Specializes in Operating Room Nursing.

I've been an RN for almost six years now....wow does time fly!

I worked as a carer in a nursing home for about seven months and it was a real eye opening experience. I think all nursing students should do this as part of their training because it helps prepare you for the realities of nursing. I left this job and was an AIN on a haematology ward during my final year as a nursing student, absolutely loved it because the nurses pushed me hard during this year they wanted to get me ready for being a graduate nurse. The experience was invaluable. During this year I did a clinical placement in the OR and really found my niche.

I did my one year as part of the graduate nursing program which involved 3 four month placements in ICU, surgical ward and the OR. I stayed on in the OR and haven't left. I don't think I ever will.

Specializes in oncology/BMT, general medicine.

Nurse Tech for 3 years on the same unit...

RN for 2 1/2 years...

Job 1 - 8 months in ICU

Job 2 - 1 1/2 years inpatient/outpatient oncology/BMT and IV team

I left the first job because I quickly discovered ICU was not for me. When I took my present position, I swore that I would never leave but the health system is integrating services. I refuse to go from a Magnet hospital to a unionized hospital. So I will be starting job 3 in a few weeks. Also did a 2 week part-time stint at a major cancer center in the area but quickly left because it was unsafe.

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTAC, Critical Care.

PCT for 3 years 1 on telemetry, 2 on PCU.

LVN for 2 years (this December), worked on telemetry, PCU, Med-surg, now back with my original crew.

Worked at the same hospital for nearly 5 years, but I've hopped around to dang near every unit.
