Question Re: How many nursing schools did you apply to, and...
I got into the BSN program on the first try. Class of 2010. Luck I guess. Not so sure I "like" it though.

Applied at two schools, one a community college, and one university. Got into both. Got my letter in the summer for the cc, and could start in the fall. I had to wait one year before I could start at the university.

I applied once, but it was to a community college which put me on a list for about 6 six schools all of the schools in the county. It took about a year to get in and course it was the last school on my list.

Feeling like a loser here....last 3 yrs applied at the same local community college (very competitive; about 70 of 400 applicants get in) and 3 yrs denied..not even to the essay. Applied a year ago to another CC and made it to the essay but shot down. I don't have the money to apply to more schools per year ($50-100/school/yr + transcript fees, etc) and will probably end up moving quite a ways away where it's not so competitive. (3.5 GPA, 90% of prereqs and coreqs done through my bachelor's degree and just can't get in )

Just once. I didn't realize how difficult it can be to get into nursing school until after I got in. If I remember correctly, I applied in the spring and started the following fall with my pre-reqs.

I'm not an expert at admissions or anything, and without knowing the strength of your references or any other parts of your application, I think one thing is to have all (i.e., 100%) of your prereqs and coreqs completed before you even apply, that way the admissions committee is not left wondering how you're going to do on those uncompleted courses despite your stellar GPA. I think other applicants that have completed all their reqs have this advantage over you ... and this is why the admissions process has become competitive.
