It's been almost a week since I got slapped flat with this flu bug, and there's still no end in sight.......tonight I feel slightly better than I have, but I still need about 18 hours of sleep a day, I'm still full of congestion, and I have very little memory of the past few days (although I think the Phenergan/codeine cough syrup may have at least something to do with that). I'm dehydrated, I'm not eating, my throat is sore, my eyes ache, I can't hear out of my right ear........well, I'm just a mess!

I am of course assuming that this flu virus is different from the one I was vaccinated against last fall........but how long is this crap supposed to go on?? I've already missed 3 days of work, luckily I have 4 days off now in which to recuperate, but I don't know how to deal with things that don't go away within a few days. Does anyone know how much longer it will be before I feel like a human being again? :o I HATE BEING SICK!!

For me I got it the beginning of December, went into secondary bacterial infections (bronchitis and ear infections). I am still battling the ear and sinus stuff...starting my third course of antibiotics today. And yes, it started off with the flu...and I had my flu shot this season. BFD, it didn't help of course. I DO hope you recover sooner than I have. I will keep you in my prayers. :kiss

Thanks, my friends.......I guess this is really a tough one to get over by the sound of it. This morning I woke up with a fever of 101.2, my left eye is weeping greenish stuff, and the pressure in my sinuses is unbelievable. I feel like my entire face is going to explode. I'm thinking about going back to Urgent Care because I think this has crossed over into something bacterial, which at least can be treated with antibiotics. I do have a little bit more energy than I did (which isn't saying much), but I'm still dragging my poor sorry carcass around and I think I'd have to get better to die. :o

Sounds all too familiar. Definitely get back to Urgent Care. The sooner you get the bacterial stuff treated the better (but I guess I DON'T need to tell you that!). Force those fluids whether you want them or not!!! And, hey, just feel better, okay?

poor girl... really do hate it for you. please take care of yourself, and get better soon !!! hugs to you.

Mine started at the end of Jan...I was sick the entire last week..dont remember a thing about the WHOLE week...

it lasted almost 2 entire weeks..then I got better...yea..kinda.

so I started up and around...taking care of all the normal stuff I do around the house etc...

well then I got sick AGAIN..took a couple days to rest..and seemed to do fine ..then just Fri morning...BAM...

here I am fever, coughing up all kinds of disgusting goo and sicker than a dog.

I got the flu shot this year for the first time too...

dh had it a milder version of what I had as well for a week..and he too is in bed w/ it now....AGAIN.

Luckily for us...our kids only 2 of the 3 got some sniffles...no fever..no other symptoms...

I cannot WAIT til I"m better...I hate being ill...

I'm really fortunate that I don't work though or we'd be up #%%% creek.

Well, I just got back from Urgent Care again, and sure enough I have a sinus infection (can anyone say DUH??). I got a boatload of Amoxicillin and some Vicodin; now I'm just waiting for the pain pill to kick in so I can go back to sleep.

One good thing has come out of all this, though: I've now lost 24 pounds!! In fact, this is the lowest weight I've been since the summer of 2002---still WAY too much, but it's a really, really good start toward my eventual goal of losing 100# this year.

Now, if I can ever feel good enough to re-start my exercise program.....!

You poor thing!! Sinus infections are NO FUN!! I hope you feel better within 24 hr (48 at the max), when the Abxs kick in, and I hope the pain meds help too. (WOOT for the 24 lb, though --- bad choice of weight loss plans, though, girl! :D)

Thank you! Thankfully I lost most of the weight BEFORE I got sick.....maybe it won't come back once I start eating normally again.

I feel slightly better tonight.......I have just GOT to be able to work Tuesday, I missed all four shifts this past week, and I'm going nuts being cooped up in the house (not to mention a slave to naps). I've got new exercise equipment that I'm excited about and want to use, but of course I have no energy to do anything, and it's frustrating because I was beginning to make some progress.

Oh well......I guess I just have to be patient and let my body recover at its own pace. (But why can't that pace be a little FASTER??!! :o )
