How do you catch MRSA???

I have a patient I was working on the other day. Then I came in the next day and they said he was on isolation cause he had MRSA in his urine. I'm a little concerned cause I had close contact with him and I don't know if I touched his urine or if a drop got on me by touching his cath or the bed sheets(Yes I do wear gloves). My question is, how do you catch MRSA? One nurse said you get it only if you have an open wound, but another one said that if the urine touches the skin, it can be absorbed by the pores and you can get it that way. I'm not asking for medical advice, just want to know how the infection process works. Thanks.
