Question for travel nurses, is it better to obtain your own housing on a travel assignment, or have a company provide housing. If a company provides housing then you become committed to a contract. I find a lot of nurses like their freedom in working at any hospital they chose.
What are your thoughts on housing and contracts. Any feedback it appreciated.

I've had friends that got their own housing and others that got agency housing. I think it probably depends on what company you're with and how far your housing allowance will go in the city you are sent to. Sometimes your housing allowance is too small but the company may have a deal on their apartments so you could get a nicer apt through them than on your own. I'd be asking lots of questions of the agency and asking to speak to some of their current staff about what types of accomodations were available.
