Re: horrible attitudes
I understand how you feel, there are some people that can sour an entire unit. I also agree with accessqueen, however, to keep comments to yourself or you may encounter some unpleasentness before you are ready. We never know who is connected to whom, even those that act as though they don't know each other.
One thing to look into...did you really float because you liked the experience of dealing with different sorts of patients or was it to avoid this nurse? Because, if you really like floating, then, maybe this is better for you. Or, try to deal with this nurse, if she is the only thorn on your side that comes along with working in a pleasent place. And, maybe take sourpuss to the side and ask her if she has any personal issues with you, then ask how can they be resolved.
There was this one nurse that was known to have a HORRIBLE attitude. Everyone walked eggshells around her, and I didn't experience much of it because I normally worked the late clinic. Eventually, she was assigned to work late with me, and the first day, I came out and asked her what the deal was. I said to her that I would rather hear from her mouth what makes her this way and allow me to make my own decisions rather than to listen to the others. She opened up and shared alot! And, from then, we became best friends, almost. She used to make sure I got a ride home each night, shared her nursing experiences and would pull my coat tail before I got into hot water. Everyone still talks about her, but, I love her. She is still mean to many of them, but, while I still believe she can be better towards them, I know her differently.
