History of Air Force Nurse Corps

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am writing the history of the Air Force Nurse Corps, under contract to the Air Force. My colleagues and I hope to publish something that falls between being a coffee-table book and a scholarly book. The book's range is from the origins of flight nursing to the beginning of the 21st century. We intend to use many photos--perhaps as many as one per page--and to include as many personal vignettes, stories, and quotations as we can to make the story come alive. We don't want this to be a dry recitation of facts. In addition, we want to be able to show the impact of military nursing on the profession of nursing and vice versa.

I would be most interested in hearing from Air Force flight nurse veterans from World War II through today. Perhaps you would be willing to share a personal experience, a story, a diary or journal, letters back home, photos, or official correspondence. Please feel free to contact me to ask additional questions or to let me know what you have to share.

Thank you very much.
