help re: constipation - need recipe!

  1. Hello ya'll! I'm at work right now and could use some help. I have a pt who has not had a "good" BM in about a week. I remember reading on here someone's recipe for something to help with that. If I recall it has prune juice and sprite and soemthing else in it. Does anybody know what it is? 'Cause I think it would be really helpful to my pt. thanks!

    why the sprite?

    1 cup all bran
    1 cup applesauce
    1/2 cup prune juice
Cinnamon and/or nutmeg to taste... Mix it up, put it in the refrigerator. I makes a kind of pudding. We used to give a med cup of it for each patient daily.
    Hope this helps.

half prune juice and half 7-up warmed, is an old recipe good for gas and bm, guess sprite would probably be the same difference

 We used to warm up 4 oz prune juice, put in 1/2-1 teas lemon juice and sugar to sweeten to taste. If my memory serves me right it worked EVERY time! (Postpartum moms, anyway!)

We used to use warm prune juice and MOM mixed. Tastes bad but works well.

I've seen warm prune juice do the trick many times...not too appetizing, but most stuff isn't...

    warm prune juice

    MOM

-Usually see results by the next day

PS - we put the butter in the prune juice to melt followed by the MOM

I eat cream of wheat almost every morning and the next day when I go it is like giving birth. Since you said he has not gone in 1 week I reccomend the 4 oz of prune juice warmed ( I don't know why warm but it works real good) If not u might have to get an order for an enema or disimpation.

In New Zealand here we use stewed prunes with kiwifruit pureed in it. Also a product called kiwicrush which the pt.s drink. It usually works very well. We have it in the fridge on the ward all the time. Great stuff.
