hi everybody,

I have recently passed my nclex. I hope to work soon, there are some things I am not familiar with and maybe somebody can help me concerning about jobs (east coast/NY). Would greatly appreciate it.

I took the test for the state of NEW YORK. I live in New york City, I love the city but its very hard to get a job around here. I am 22 years old and I don't have the responsibilities of kids and marriage so i don't mind traveling at all. I was wondering if I can apply to other states around New York to find a job??? (there is always trains and grey hound buses, i don't mind traveling, i use to travel 3 hours to my college lol *silly i know*if i have to move, i am willing to do that) Would they accept me if my license is for NY in another state? I hear of people moving to other states permanently with their families or by themselves, do they have to retake the test in that state or something?

i am focusing in the east coast… but open to the west coast as well.

I AM SORRY FOR THE SILLY QUESTION, I JUST WANT TO START WORKING AS AN RN AND EXPAND AND NOT ONLY STICK TO NYC.

don't get me wrong i love NYC and if i get a job here YAAAAYYY!!! but i just want as many options as possible.

thank you so much for your help. Greatly appreciated :)

Check out this map.https://www.ncsbn.org/nurse-licensure-compact.htm

If you are one of the compact states (blue), you can practice in any of the blue states without needing to change your license. Since you are from NY, it's not one of the compact states. If you move to a different state, you will need to apply for your license at their board of nursing.

thank you so much. That was so helpful. Greatly appreciate. :)

You will never have to take NCLEX again as long as you maintain an active license. You cannot, however, practice in another state with a NY license. You will need to apply for licensure by endorsement in whatever state you find a job in.

oh no!!! Just get reciprocity and do you!!!!!! The only facilities I know that will take any license is the VA SYSTEM. Other than that you are good to go. Explore your new horizons!!!!

Hi, I have a similar question about endorsement. I just passed NCLEX and have my license from OR. It is difficult to find a job in Portland so I'm looking for a job in Vancouver, WA. I want to know if I could lose OR license after I endorse WA one. Can I have liven from multiple states at the same time?

Each are separate licenses with separate BoNs overseeing them. You can hold as many single state licenses as you wish, as long as you are willing to pay the fees.

thank you everybody!
