Hi Everybody,

I'm in desperate need of some answers. My father was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome in March of this year. He is the early stages of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). He will be starting Chemo soon but as of right now The University of Michigan (where he will be receiving treatments) sugguested he receive a bone marrow transplant but told him last night that they are having a difficult time finding a match. I don't know what to do, I'm searching all avenues to find answers and help as this is hard for me to stomach right now. I feel soooo helpless.:crying2:

http://www.marrow.org/HELP/Events/index.html Looks like you could contact this company to see if they are having a donor registry drive near you. You could advertise to family, friends, local businesses & community to come and register to help improve the chances of finding a match. I had my blood drawn & put myself on the registry when my son had cancer. He never did need a bone marrow transplant. You can also contact the American Cancer Society, they were a great help to me setting up with resources & support groups. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp
