Help I need info!!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi, my name is Tania Boyd and I am currently studying second year nursing at Deakin University. I am inquiring to see anyone can email me some information on the changes in rural or remote health care over the past ten years with particular attention to:

* The changing demographics and health needs of rural communities

* The main rural health policies and their contents

* The changes in rural health service delivery models, ie, from bed-based to community-based

* The types of nursing roles and settings found in rural practice.

Any information that you feel could assist me in my assignment would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time and help.

Tania

Tania, you have asked a very complex question, one that can only be answered by finding books/articles written by someone who has researched this particular area. Most nurses work in big city hospitals, and know very little about rural nursing. Even those in rural areas would have difficulty answering such a complex question, unless they had made it their business to research it!

Suggest you ask your instructor to point you to some good references, and go from there. Nursing journals, books on demographics/govt health policy, community nursing would all be good sources. Good luck!

Hi Tania, I am also a student and had to gather information for various community projects this semester. Although I don't have any information specific to what you are asking, I would suggest that you go to your campus library and do a search for community nursing. Look for all the books (and there are many) involving community and nursing- even old community nursing textbooks are helpful and have lots of old statistics in them. Like I said, I wish I could help you out more specifically but that's about what I would do if given the same assignment. I can usually find around 5 or 6 books to take home and research, then compile my findings. Also, you might try the CINAHL online database. If you're not familiar with it, feel free to email me and I'll try to fill you in.

Good luck with your project! smile.gif

Oops, I just read Jay-Jay's post and realized that I basically restated what he just said. Sorry about that... smile.gif
