'Have your views on aspartame changed? DO you use it?"

Several docs at work are ADAMANT that no one eats/drinks anything containing aspartame....

They all say it has a distinct adverse effect on brain cells.

What are you all hearing? Anything?

They advocate Splenda.

Don't use, don't like the taste or the violent puking and headache after I eat/drink things containing it.
I do like Splenda and no nasty side effects either. I've made Kool Aid with the Splenda and think it needs to be cut down to 3/4 cup instead of 1 cup.

Splenda user here, at least if I have a choice. I do drink some diet cola with aspartame in it.

I do my baking with Splenda, tastes better than sugar twin, for sure. (I am hypoglycemic).

How? Ive always learned that sucralose ("Splenda") is just sucrose with a structural change (Oxygen-Hydrogen groups replaced) so that it isnt absorbed.

I gave up aspartame nearly about 18 years ago. The headaches disappeared immediately. Then I began reading about it, particularly through the eyes of the FAA doctors, who really discouraged pilots drinking gallons of diet drinks.

We use Splenda and stevia for our sweeteners now. Cooking, baking, drinks, everything. I, too, would like to know about studies that show Splenda to be harmful. It's sugar in a different form. Buy a bag of Splenda and a bag of sugar. The weight difference is incredible! I'm thinking the weight of sugar goes directly to your hips and thighs! My hubby calls is Spendida!

I had been using products with aspartame to help me cut down on calories and lose weight. I had been using those products for a couple years and didn't seem to be having any problems. Then I started having a lot of trouble with joint stiffness. Someone pointed me to information about aspratame and it's bad effects. It talked about having some effects that caused arthritis like symptoms. I stoped using it, and after some time the stiffness went away. Not being able to use that was disappointing ~ it was such a great help in lowering the calories.

I have started using splenda and products with it. Some things I can't find though. There is not instant pudding available sweetened with splenda. Chewing gum ~ I can not find any of that sweetened with splenda. And some things I don't like the taste when I use splenda. I have been drinking tea lately, but don't like the taste of that sweetened with splenda.

Now the stiffness has come back ~ it makes me wonder if that stuff (aspartame) caused me some kind of permanant damage.

I too would like to know more about findings that Splenda is bad for you too.

What a coincidence. I was just copying some info from Snopes.com and Urban Legends about Aspartame for our ER doc.

Most of the negative stuff has been debunked and alot of the stuff on the net consists of hoaxes.

I drink Diet Pepsi. Not every day.

I use Splenda for my coffee.
