:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle I am new to az from Michigan.I am an LPN whom happens to be 57 yrs old & wondering how to get started going back to get my RN. I know I do not want to take 100 prereqs to start an RN program. So I was wondering anyone who had no college credits can tell me what may be involved & do different schools have more/less prereqs to take or is this a standard set by the state of az.

I would get a list of programs you're interested in and call or write them what their prereqs are. Also, go to the AZ BON site and look it over.

You are in a really odd forum for this question!

Anyway, usually you don't have to take any pre-reqs as an LPN because the pre-req for LPN are the same for RN. You should be able to enter any nursing program at the third semester.

What city in Az are you in?

 I live in surprise. So far I am beginning to realize that I have to do some driving to any school. My main concern is I am too old to keep waiting to be put on a long waiting list to get into a RN program.:sniff: I could stay an LPN but I just need to get more pay than an LPN & I feel I can do the work. I looked at some of the prereq at such colleges as gateway & I think that is a lot to do before I can even apply. Also what did you mean by I was in the wrong forum?

This forum is for suggestions/problems with the website itself. That's OK, maybe a mod will move this to the AZ forum.

Well, there is little wait for LPNs to get into RN school. You enter at 3rd semester, and like I said, there might only be one class for you to take. Down here in Tucson LPNs take a transition to RN class. Otherwise, your LPN should be enough. I doubt you'd wait too long.

If you have to wait a year, ask yourself...What would I be doing in a year if I don't get my RN. You'd still be working, so why not go for it? Besides, as an LPN, there are plenty of other ways to get an LPN-RN, such as online.

Good Luck, and come swing by the Az forum......
