Gulf coast of Mississippi

I will be travelling and looking for a job after the first of the year on the gulf coast of Mississippi (Biloxi or Pasgagoula), and would appreciate any info on hospitals, pay, ect. There are a few travel jobs but the pay is significantly lower that what I am making at my staff job in North Florida, so I am curious if I might be better to look for a staff position with a relocation bonus. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
What hospitals should I look at? I am an experienced ICU nurse currently working in a Level 1 trauma ICU, but have done all ICU areas including open heart recovery. Thanks in advance!

I have tried (in the past) to obtain a traveling nurse job on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As far as I could know, Mississppi Gulf Coast will not accept travelers. Travel agencies have told me they are too stingy to pay the salary for a traveler.

You may also want to consider the issue of housing in the Gulf Coast area. Since much of the area really hasn't recovered from Katrina, housing may be at a premium.

Thanks for the reply. There are travel jobs posted, they just aren't very high paying, which I suppose is understandable for the area.

Thanks for the thoughts. It seems there are places available and the rents are less than I pay now in Jacksonville. I am sure it will work out. I am mainly trying to figure out what the salaries are like. I have 12 years experience and might be able to get a good salary offer. The travel jobs I have seen are $26/hour plus the housing stipend.

Having just moved from Biloxi in May I can tell the housing problem isn't that bad in the area. You should to able to find housing w/o any real problem.

The Keesler AFB in Biloxi has been hiring quite a few civilian nurses lately. You might want to check to see what contract agency they are using and see what kind of deal they would offer you.
