I got a letter saying I was chose for an audit of CEU hours.. Problem is I am a new RN, I just got my License in February, was required to renew in July due to my bday, but I was told I did not have to have any CEU hours?? What do I do??

You were probably chosen randomly. You haven't been a nurse for even a year yet, so it's not like you're short on any kind of requirement. It diesn't sound like this is about you, it's about how well employers keep records.

Strange that you were selected for audit already. All you need to do is complete the paperwork that they send you. As a new graduate, and newly licensed, you are not required to have any CEU's for you first licensure. Now, for the next 2 years (your renewal period), you will need to have the required number of CEU's by the end of your current licenses expiration date.

Go to the BON website if they have one and check CEU requirements. About 3 yrs ago they changed the requirements for new grads here. Now new grads have to have a 4 hrS CEU provided by the BON on Nurse Practice Act and depending on what month they got their license they have to have additional hrs. For ex, if they got their license in May, they have to have 4 BON hrs, plus 5 hrs to get them to the renewal period. (Oct)

Fill out the papers they send you. Like the other poster said, you were probably chosen at random.

In a situation like this, the easiest solution is to call the BON. Explain your question to the person who answers the phone, and she will either answer your question or direct you to someone who knows.

Ok, well I called the BON and of course it was past hours, but I guess the lady got the message cause she called me back later.. She told me if my license was less than 2yrs old than I'm not required, so all I have to do is send her a letter stating when I got my license, etc.. :)

Thanks for the advice.. i was starting to freak out :)
