Hi! I have a question for former scholars. I have searched high and low for a job that is an approved HPSA site to fulfill my scholarship obligation. I am in the Philadelphia area and not one hpsa site in that area are hiring nurses. I have also checked the surrounding counties and still not one nursing job. Ive checked Jersey and still nothing. I have also checked other states and I am not having any luck. I was just wondering if its supposed to be this difficult to find a job... I find it hard to believe that this scholarship would pick so many scholars knowing that there are barely any jobs. The whole point of this scholarship is because there are nursing shortages in these approved HPSA sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

This greatly concerns me, as I have applied for the scholarship for this year and live in the same area.

Where have you applied in Philadelphia?

Have you tried Atlanticare in NJ When I applied for the scholarship I thought the Atlanticare hospital was a facility. Now I'm not sure it's on the list. Are there any hospitals at all on the list?

Have you gotten any help from the DOH/ HRSA ?

The only approved hospital I found was in Hawaii. Most of the places are clinics for the poor and homeless. I knew I wasn't going to work in a hospital..I planned on working in a clinic. But, not one is hiring? Why even bother having a scholarship...clearly these hpsa sites do not need nurses. What they want are nurse practioners and specialists.

Are you subscribed to HRSC emails? I got one, that there is an online job recruit event on Tuesday evening. I signed up for it, even though I'm not a scholar, to see what is available.

Also, I am still confused because I think Atlanticare regional med center is a HSPA. I'm going to call them next week to try to get an answer on that and I will post any info I get, if you are interested. Please do check back and let me know how you are doing.

Hello, I know this post was seven years ago, and I'm currently in the same situation. Did you ever find out if  Atlanticare hospital qualifies during your time in the program?

thank you for your help! Trying to find a place that will take new grads at this point. Having a hard time finding something even if its not a hospital
