Fingerprint failure

  1. I didn't think you could fail "fingerprints", but I did. This was for the State of NC and even though I've had a NC license for years, to work for the state you need to repeat these.

Well, I had the manual ones done and sent them in and the FBI rejected them. Next had the "live" scan at the local Sheriffs and failed those twice.. this is getting rediculous.

I've been an RN for 42+ yrs, worked many of those in the OR but I didn't think we lose our prints ... have any of you experienced this and was it resolved in some way?

    Thanks

Funny, I am in NC and a lot of teachers fail because of all the paper counting they do. Mine barely work. I think my friend used an old set when she fostered a child and they couldn't get prints off of her.

I could not get into the pyxis because of poor fingerprint quality and was assigned a code instead. I was 60 at the time. Everything else is falling off my body.....

Too many years of scrubbing will wear down your fingerprints.
Find one of the places that does the electronic scanning of your fingerprints and you will have better results.
I go through this with each new state in which I license.

My mother-in-law is a diabetic and had to get fingerprinted every year for her school job (she's retired now), and her prints were always rejected. They told her that her finger sticking altered her prints enough to reject them.

I've had that happen in the OR...

The electronic ones were not successful either. That is my point, had them done manually and then electronically. Not good...

    Wow...didn't know that would happen.

I have that problem until applied lotion to my hands prior to using the finger scanner on the pyxis. It works the first time usually. Haven't got to the point of password, yet.

    Good tip. I'll remember this.

I had this happen but I've got sweaty hands. Hand sanitizer seemed to work the last time.

I was fingerprinted in Annapolis, MD a few years ago. The finger print tech was shocked that after so many years of nursing, I still have fingerprints. Purell destroys finger prints, she said. Then asked me if I use hand sanitizer often. I said I didn't because it gives me a rash, so I always use soap and water. That explained it.

You've been nursing so long the alcohol gel wore your fingerprints out. Talk about worked to the bone!
