Fibroma Question

Everyone dies of Cancer in my family. I wanted to specialize in Oncology but I ended up in Cardio. I'm a new nurse, only have my license for a year.

I found a lump on my dog, a Chinese Crested, & her Vet took it out yesterday. She's only 8 1/2 years old. He said it looked like a Fibroma, but wasn't sure. It was fibrous. He sent it out for a histology report but it won't come back for a couple of days. He didn't think it was a Mast Cell but won't say for sure. I can't blame him.

I've been researching Fibromas but I can't find exactly what she had. ARE THEY USUSALLY BENIGN? Can anyone help me out here? PLEASE.

I know she's just a dog to many people, but she's all I have. Most of my family is dead & I don't have any kids. Her Vet let me observe the surgery yesterday & her heart rate started dropping quickly. I had to walk out of the room because I didn't want to distract him. The thought of losing her scares the hell out of me. I just can't. She's all I have.

I also posted this in the Oncology Forum.

Thank you.
