Do you think it would be okay to bring a family member to you nursing schools orientation?(it doesn't say on my letter if it was okay or not)

I hope they're not expecting youth...

Fortunately my advisor knows she isn't getting "youth" when I show up!

I didn't have time to read through all of the comments(rushing around to get to a doc's appointment really quick...so forgive me if I sound like a broken record).

Would YOU enjoy going to your loved ones work orientation(unless of course you share the same interest/career move. Chances are your loved one is going to want to hightail it out of there within two minutes of being there(unless...well see reason above). You don't need any extra distractions anyway. It kind of reminds me when my friend would come during her lunch period in school and come sit in my big stadium seated science class. Sure the teacher had no idea she was there. But I certainly did...and I didn't get a darn thing done...not to mention all she did was complain how boring the class was...she was a real genius...giving up lunch to go back to a class that SHE didn't belong in.

What was she thinking?! Can you link that thread? I can't find it. I'm seriously wondering how she would think that was okay.

This is a great question, I was wondering the same thing... Guess I gotta let mom down the easy way LOL.

haha! I thought the same thing! I'd guess she was kicked out of the program. I'm sure she would have been kicked out of the program I was in!

My family didn't even come to my graduation. (not due to drama or bad feelings. We're just not that kind of family)

Never in my wildest dreams could I envision a scenario where my parents came to my nursing school orientation. Well, except maybe in a nightmare....

That makes me sad.

Well, orientation happened yesterday. I would say it was 80% with a parent/guardian/spouse, 20% by themselves. As previously stated, at my school the letter encouraged for someone to attend. We started out together, got our student ID's, then split up for about 3 hours to get our schedules and book list, got back together for lunch, stayed together the rest of the day for ordering uniforms, etc. Final thing was a very informal orientation from the nursing school staff. It was really quite nice. After the expected nursing school is tough, we are very selective so we believe you can do this, NCLEX pass rate so we know what we are doing (put much nicer but you get the drift), question/answer, we left.

Nursing school orientation isn't like general orientation that some schools will aim for students to bring family members. It's boring as heck.
