Expert!!!! WOW!!!!

Nurses General Nursing

I am so flattered. My coworker from the education department at my work is working on her DNP, and in the course of her research project needs several "expert" ICU nurses do a performance assessment on for her study validation. She asked me if I would participate. She could have picked from 100+ ICU trained nurses in the medical center and she chose me (as one of 4)! I am SO THRILLED!!!!

I would have put myself in the "proficient" category. To hear this from someone that actually knows what's what is such a compliment! Maybe I will put my "burnout" on the "backburner" for awhile (well, at least a week or so!)

I know nobody out there really cares, but I wanted to be happy with somebody out there that **might** actually get what a big deal that is.

YAY FOR ME!!!!!! :yeah:

expert is a word thrown around a lot these days, I don't think no one is an "expert" on anything, there are just some poeple who know more that others, but there is always room to know more- and to continue learning.

Specializes in multispecialty ICU, SICU including CV.

And some of us are obviously not experts on the English language. "I don't think no one is an expert", "poeple" ... maybe you should continue learning some communication skills.

I pretty much disagree --- if you want, why don't you email Patricia Benner and tell her that her Novice to Expert philosophy, that was first published in 1984 and is still widely taught in nursing programs, is bunk. She is still a Professor (emeritus) at UCSF if you would care to give her your feedback.

Nice.

Sorry, I'm not going to let you rain on my parade. (Or, the other one of you that made some not so nice comments.)

Thank you to all of you that provided some supportive feedback. It always feels good to be validated, via this forum, or through your job. :redbeathe :redbeathe :redbeathe :redbeathe

Cool beans, MissBecky! Nice affirmation of your talents and, yes, Patricia Benner would agree! You da nurse!

Specializes in LTC.

Very cool! What a great affirmation. :) A little recognition goes a long way, doesn't it? Nice work, MissBecky.

wow! Miss Becky--- if being an "expert" makes you be so critical of others who post their opinions, and pointing out their short comings,-- count me out of your club. Just because someone didn't "Validate" you , in the way you wanted, on an internet message board?

I don't need a "club", nor is that what I was asking for (not asking for anything, really, just wanting to share a positive experience.)

If you want to be taken seriously in any forum, internet message boards included, it is pretty silly to be spouting off opinions without the use of proper English and making comments that aren't backed up in any sort of reality, especially if they aren't very nice. That is all I was pointing out. It is noted that the poster that we are speaking of has chosen not to respond or defend him/herself and the statements that were made.

Enough said.

Peace. :smokin:
