I've only been a member since January and I've found nothing offensive here. I've raised my eyebrows at a few things...not profanity or someones opinion, but definitely seen flames thrown with accuracy without provocation. But even in the short time I've been here I have noticed it's pretty much the same flame throwers that will start something. That's pretty easy to see when you sit back and watch rather than jumping in feet first.

I'll abide by the rules, the same ones I do at work. That's also by choice.

No need to be leary. I don't think you'll find the board that restrictive. It is kind of ironic that so many members allowed themselves to feel offended, seeing that the decision by the mods to enforce the TOS was because other members were often offended.

I actually believe that any form of censorship is wrong. (Isn't it against the american constitution?). I am an adult. To summarise: Unless a poster/signature is racist/sexist/insulting/bullying, what's the problem?

Censorship on a privately owned internet board is not against the law. Censorship of the nightly news by the government is. Or if the government came to this board and were the censors, that would be against the law. But the owners can censor to their heart's desire. But what you call censors, we call "board moderators". If you can appreciate the difference.

"Adult" talk isn't offensive to me either, but to a conservative person somewhere it might be. We should respect them, even if we don't understand them or live their lifestyles. We're a big country with a wide variety of people and can't please everybody all the time.

True: I suppose the mods provide the web site, therefore have the right to censor. I just think that what is perceived as offensive to one person, isn't to another. However, I will not be patronised, just in case someone finds the odd swear word offensive.

PS: What I see on TV and in newspapers I find MORE offensive; ie: the fact that there are millions of africans dying each year of AIDS because of western medicine being too expensive for the average african. Or that millions of people in africa and asia being denied the right to clean and healthy contraceptive advice and abortion because George W Bush has withdrawn funds to any organisation which directly or indirectly works for a womans right to choose.

Sorry to "go off on one" on something irrelevant to the post, but have just drank a bottle of wine and saying how I feel. What I see on TV on what westerners have done to africans and asians piss me off a great deal more than a few swear words.

Bess the moderators don't own the board. It is exclusively Brian's. The moderators operate voluntarily. We only help to moderate following his instructions. And general forum is truly not the place to introduce political views.

So, will our American "cousins" desist from using the word "Fanny" in future??!!! It REALLY IS VERY OFFENSIVE to us Australians. So you understand, here in Oz it is the word used ( slang) for the word; lady parts! And from what Queen Bess wrote, same in mother England!...

I'm sure we can ALL abide by the rules & show each other respect?!

Cheers,

Grace

All I can say is thank you Brian and mods for strictly enforcing the TOS because it certainly needed to be done. The TOS are simple... Behave or be booted. Nuff said. ;)

I also agree

 Been on vacation the last few days and am not exactly

sure what has gone on but do agree with KarenG and many others. There are some innuendos and personal attacks that seem unwarrented. I will re-read the TOS and do my best to

abide. :p
