Laura--hang in there. I am so excited that you are following your dream and pursuing nursing. You won't regret it! Just remember you CAN do anything you want to do. Nursing school (and the pre-req's) are intimating but once you get into it, you'll find that it wasn't the bear you thought and you will enjoy your classes. I loved nursing school--it was alot of work but I learned to time manage. That was the biggest challenge I had. Being a mom and going to school is hard no matter the area of study but it can be done! I understand your feeling overwhelmed but I promise it will all be OK and it sounds as if you know exactly what you want. You will be just fine!! BEST WISHES!! If you have any more questions or just need to vent, do not hesitate!!!

I felt like you did when I first started 14 weeks ago. I ran around the first week with my head in my hands saying "what the h*** did I get myself into?' I almost quit before I even started.

It does come together in time. Quitting is the worst thing you can do because then you'll never know if you can do it or not.

Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you are. Started my bio class three weeks ago, and my math starts today. I'm 31, have two kids (12 and 3), I work full time and English is a second language to me hehehe. Every once in a while, I have to look up in my dictionary. Imagine that! Anyway, I have 94% in my bio class so far. Just promise yourself that you will not give up before you tried everything. You are not alone!

I just started my prenursing classes two weeks ago. I am 37 years old and as far back I remember I always wanted to be a nurse. I work part-time and have 4 kids (3 ages 8 and under) Anyway, it has been awhile since I had been to school and I am a bit overwhelmed. Not to mention I took 9 credit hours for the short summer semester. I am beginning to doubt I can do this. I just don't know I am smart enough. I looked at example questions of the TEAS test and almost cried. It looks so hard. Thanks for listening...any words of advice are deeply appreciated. Thanks-Laura

it is very overwhelming at first. Don't give up. YOu can do anything you set your mind to.

Laura you can do it! My wife was in the same boat, same age as you and with five kids. She graduated last semester. It was hard at times but stick with it. She just took one class per semester for her pre-requisits and before we knew it she was accepted into nursing school.

how do you eat an elephant?

one bite at a time.

no really, you just have to take it as it comes.

sometimes that may mean day to day. other times it may mean hour to hour or even minute to minute. try not to be overwhelmed - although the subject matter may be difficult at first, it can be done...it has been done. by many. you can do it!

i do not know anyone that has been free of some type of adversity.

you don't know what you don't know - and that is why we continue our education. i continue to learn new things everyday.

don't give up.

I would go from assignment to assignment. One at a time. I would try to get them complete early.(if you can do this,put it in a folder tack it to the wall with a sticky note of the due date) but not always. keep a good date book and don't panic nobody was born a nurse. Keep a copy of everything on your computer!! before you know it time flys by. good luck
