Thank God for C-sections! Can you imagine delivering this one any other way?

We had a 14 pounder at our hospital several years ago. To top it off this chick was in excess of 400 pounds and didn't even know she was pregnant. She couldn't get out of bed because her stomach was hurting so bad. She called 911, came through the ER, and surprise honey you're going to have a baby. It came as no surpise that she was also a non-compliant diabetic. We had to send out for larger diapers. She barely fit in the basinette. The couple was estatic thinking they would never have a child. (Personally I don't know how he got her pregnant!)

Hey, I weighed 11lbs. 4 oz. in 1971 and my Mom had me naturally. She was tall and all baby, never overweight, still isn't and no other health problems then or now. I have a first cousin who is older than me who weighed 13 lbs. and he was born naturally. It can happen. It can hurt I'm sure but can happen. LOL

My son weighed 10lbs. 13.5 oz. but I had a c-section, I don't think I would have wanted the natural child birth thing. Kudo's to my Mom for that but not me.

You've got THAT right........my last one was 10 lb. 9 oz. and 23 inches long, and I thanked God for C-sections, let me tell you. I'm overweight, but otherwise I'm quite a small woman, less than five-foot-four, and that kid was so big it felt like I was carrying him under my chin and around my knees at the same time! I can't even imagine trying to have him "naturally"........OUCH!!!!!:uhoh21:

My baby weighed 11-3 and I pushed him out with 4 pushes - some women are made to have big babies and some are not (my sister had a c-section after she pushed for 3 hours with a 6 pounder). I wasn't diabetic but I am five feet ten inches tall, with a husband that is six feet five inches tall.

Ladies you have all my respect!!!!!! I'm 5'2" and I thought my 9#/4oz baby was H U G E. My cousin has informed me he was a 14# baby....born at home before I was born so I have to take his word for it.

My youngest was 10# 14oz, he wouldn't even come down at all, the doctor swore he was about 7 pounds and tried to induce. Yeah right 10+ hours of contractions for never getting +3 (sad but I think it was plus 3 - been a while since I was an OB nurse). He never came down at all. Finally they did the C-Sec and saw why he wasn't budging. Too darn big for my small frame! 7# baby my tush! I had told the doctor that he was way bigger than that - I got to say - told you so at time of c-sec! By the way - I'm 5' (used to be 5'1 - shrunk somehow)
Oh - and one more thing my son was kind enough to give me was a hernia of a previous gallbladder incision!

We've had several babies over 11# in our unit, usually diabetes. I've seen very bad outcomes from >11# babies that got stuck (shoulder dsytocia), had to have clavicles broken and still had severe hypoxia going home with obvious severe brain damage. I admire any one who pushes ANY SIZE baby out, that's insane. But especially any baby over 7#. Being in NICU any baby over about 7# looks big and any baby over 8 1/2# looks like a toddler.

Yep - when a kiddo weighs more than all of his podmates put together, you know you've got a biggun'.

That happened to a girl I went to high school with! She was big, but not obese, so I'm sure she could have definitely felt the baby. The baby got NO pre-natal care or a crib, car seat, ANYTHING. I think she just was afraid to tell anyone, so she just hid it. She went to the hospital for stomach pains and she came home with a baby girl! She came back to school after the weekend (she dropped out, just came in to drop out.) telling everyone she had baby over the weekend! "What did you do this weekend?" "Oh nothing much, went shopping, had a baby girl, went to the movies. The usual, what about you?" Hahaha. Thankfully the baby was OK.

I don't know, I didn't really take it that way. I thought she meant that since the lady was over 400 lbs, it would be hard to have sex! I could be wrong but that's just how I thought it was meant..

Have you ever cared for these very overweight folks? Considering that we frequently wondered how the OR managed to get a Foley in some of these folks, it only makes sense to wonder how they could manage to insert some other things in the same region.
Some of these extremely overweight folks just have such tremendous amounts of fat - especially to the abdomen, thighs, etc that I can definitely doubt the ability of some to be able to accomodate intercourse.
(Trying not to be too crude or graphic here.)

So, yes, I also have seen very (I mean VERY) overweight people, that I don't think would be able to have sex, and would be surprised if they did.

I am not trying to be rude or inflammatory. (In other words don't want a fight.)
Let me point out that my husband and I also have our struggles with weight. No skinny Minnie here!
