ED residency without experience (Orlando, FL area)

I am interested in an ED residency. I unfortunately do not have nursing experience outside of nursing school due to medical issues that prevented me from working during school. I have one nursing clinical that was in the ED, so I do have that experience, but I do not have experience as an EMT or anything like that, which I know is appealing. My question is, do I have a chance in getting into a nursing residency, specifically in the Orlando area, with no prior experience. Is it unheard of to get a nursing residency position in the ED without being an EMT or working as a tech? As mentioned, I did have a clinical rotation in the ED, so I am familiar with the environment and roles of the ED nurse, which a lot of people don't have. I have my BSN and am completely willing to wait for an opening in the ED, if I am able to get it, and I know the jobs I was looking at in Orlando only require an associates, so I am hoping I have an advantage with that.

Hospitals definitely offer ED new grad residencies depending on geographical location. Apply to positions that specify new grads and not those that require experience. I don't know the Orlando job market, sorry.

My question is, if worse comes to worse, how long are you willing to hold out? If it comes down to it, it's better to have a job that is not your first choice than to be unemployed. The reason is that the golden "new grad" status that qualifies you for residencies has an expiration date of one year. Best wishes

Thank you for your response! Would a residency specify if it required specific experience in the job description? All it said in the job listing is openings obviously depend on availability / need for the specific campus. I would probably hold out around 6 months or so, if it meant I could get an ED position. Only because you sign on for 3 years that you will work in that specialty if you do a residency. I just don't want to be doing something I hate for 3 years. Also, I have been checking openings the past few months and there is usually an ED position open
