Hey all.

In December I am relocating with husband to america (He is a US citizen), if I want to apply to take the NCLEX any ideas on routes I'd have to take. I looked into this a while ago and discovered I had enough peds, mental health and obstetrics experience but I know that i need to send off my qualifications and cant remember that process.

Any help would be appreciated also please share if you've also made this transition.

Thanks

Rachel

In order to work as a nurse in the state of Florida, you will need a license to practice in that state. Start by going to the Board of Nursing website for Florida, look over the license application and see what you need to send in. I'm not familiar with Florida per se but it's a pretty safe bet that you would need to send in school transcripts, fingerprints, license application, fees, etc.

After the BON is satisfied that you have met their education and professional requirements they will issue an authorization to test (ATT) and you can then register to take the NCLEX.

Step One, process application through Board of Nursing, Florida

Step Two, take NCLEX exam

Step Three, after passing the exam and being issued a license to practice, get a job :)

Good luck!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

Is it really that simple, coming from another country?

Is it really that simple, coming from another country?

Simple, no, because providing all the information that the application will want, including proof of equivalent education is never simple! But since she asked what the process was, that's the cruxt of it. English is already her native language so not a problem with that, which seems to be a major pitfall for many.

Maybe I made it sound easy lol, but isn't anything once it's broken into basic steps? :)
