Pattywlpn, I just noticed that you were from northeastern Florida, that is my dream location, what kind of jobs are there available. Are you getting ready for Gustav?

LTC jobs only. Most hospitals hire RNs only & most dr offices hire MAs only. I got my license 8/8/08 & haven't found a job yet. I belong to FEMORS and Medical Reserve Corps. They're both volunteer groups medical people can join to help in cases of disaster, so if needed I'll be sent where ever they want me. Not too worried about Gustav. It's suppose to be the next storm headed our way.

I don't know why people use the terms "DH" (dear husband) and "DW" (dear wife). I think the abbreviations "MH" (my husband) and "MW" (my wife) sound less confusing to those who are not well-versed in internet shorthand.

Smile Re: Dumb Question
Thank you to all who have answered. I was not brought up with text messages and still have to figure out some of it. I really appreciate when people actually write out much of their message rather than use text shortcuts.

I see many posts in some very poor English. Sometimes I understand it is because English is second language (ESL) but other times it seems that basic communication skills are lacking.

Much of nursing involves good communication. I hope that in our rush to learn we have not lost our ability to convey information.
