Hi All,

I am an LPN in an office for 10yrs. 1 doc. and 1 nurse (me) Maybe he's like all of them I dunno but this guy is so wishy washy and makes up new rules as he goes. Get this I have rarely missed a day in 10 yrs. No kid programs, working with bronchitis, and working with a broke finger on my writing hand. Never missed. Last week I had stomach virus BAD. You know when your on the toilet with a trash can in your face? Excuse the graphics.

Anyway I was sick and missed Mon. and Tues. My shift was covered by a retired nurse we know and all was good. Until I came in on Wed. still with a low grade temp. about 100.1 or so, but I was there. I got my check and found out he docked my pay, well, you say he has the right, and yes he does except if our office mgr. or receptionist misses they get a chance to make up their time and all is well. Well he wasnt there but I called him and he said "Well all time has to be made up by the end of the yr. and there isnt enough days left in the yr. for you to make this up" Uhhh? :uhoh21: When did this rule start? Never heard of such. Well to make a long story short the office has been closed since then, and I'm really taking this personal. I'm wanting to give up my 10 yrs. (which is all I have to show for my time)

and start looking for another job. Do I do this or let it all slide once again? You can not approach him even in a positive setting. He will talk down to you and you'll walk out with your tail between your legs. So I feel like I either let it go or I go. Someone plz. give me some ideas.

Take your time to decide; don't make an emotional "spur-of-the-moment" decision you may regret later.

I'm assuming that he did actually pay you during the 10 years you worked for him, so you must be trying to say there is no retirement or benefits package to keep you hanging around. Between that and the fact that you don't seem to enjoy working with this man, I'd say find something else.

If he is so horrible, why have you worked there ten years?

You have to know the whole story. When I started working for him, he was actually working in a practice setting, but for a local hospital. I was paid by the hospital for 8 yrs. then 2 yrs. ago he went on his own and our entire staff me, him and 2 others went with him with promises of 401k, paid insurance and etc. now 2 yrs. later its nothing, and he has changed since the bills are in his mail box, which can make a person change, but we still have a 10 yr. relationship ya know? Its hard to explain, I dont think he is a monster, I just dont think he is a mananger and I dont feel like I'm getting anywhere, and then after the dock in pay, (which i did get paid for after taking a verbal lashing) I guess I just took it personal.

I think if you have been his employee for 2 years there needs to be a benefits package for you. You should have some sort of sick leave and vacation time available to you. Insurance and retirement are a must as well. Sounds like the office staff need to request a meeting with the doc. With that kind of loyalty you deserve better. I don't know about your area but we have a couple of good LVN positions open in our local clinic. You always have the option of moving on, give him a chance to cough up some benfits.
