That is exactly what I did when I passed my LPN boards in 2002. I took most of my income tax money and blew it all on colorful uniforms. I work in LTC and my residents really seem to like the cartoon characters and wild patterns. And believe me, If one of them doesn't like something I have on,they will definately let me know! Well, just thought I'd share that with you! Goodnight. -Amy

I'd like to go in the nude. But I suppose that wouldn't be politically correct.

Lol while consuming fast food anytime at the hospital would be as bad as lighting up a cigarette, on the other hand, eating raw fruits or veggies is okay to eat at anytime except at non-eating environments.

Sometimes I see a person wearing like a sweatshirt under their scrubs. Some people get so cold :-)

In the NICU where I work, we have to wear the hospital's surgical scrubs because the unit is considered "sterile" just like the OB dept. There are positives and negatives. On the up side, you save a lot of time and money not having to buy and launder scrubs. You just walk into the locker room and there they are, all nice and clean and folded for you. It's nice because if you get something gross on you, you can just go change into another pair. On the other hand, they're that gross greenish-gray color and aren't flattering to anyone's figure!

So for people like us, the only way to show your individuality is by wearing those scrub warm-up jackets. It's almost encouraged that we wear cutesy stuff - makes us look more kid/baby-friendly.
We can wear them over our scrubs, but not during direct patient care, and if we leave the unit we have to wear a buttoned white lab coat.

we really don't have a true uniform code--so we are all in colors/prints scrubs---i sew my own scrub tops and have one for most holidays (staff members can't wait to see what i'm wearing most holidays) we even dress up for halloween

I got in the habit of wearing just royal blue and white. I think it looks really sharp and clean and professional. My new ER requires teal scrubs, so I get to go shopping for new scrubs! Yay! When I worked on the floor, I liked wearing this really cool lab coat I got that had a shirt tail hem and the gathering at the back. Flattering to the figure. But it is white and since I went to the ER, white isn't the best idea for a warm up jacket. But I have a ton of white t-shirts that I wear with the scrub pants. I don't like scrub tops.

Is it really easy to sew them? I've been trying to talk my husband into sewing scrub tops for me but he says it's been a long time since he's sewn anything. (long time ago when he was in the army, like fixing his uniforms, etc.) I've never sewn.
It just seems like it would be much cheaper to make my own tops.

my scrub tops are totally machine sewed--there are many patterns out there and you can put on as many pockets as you want !!!!! I usually buy material that is anywhere from $2-7 per yard and need 2 yards for each scrub so the savings are great! you'll get great compliment from all your seasonal tops--I even have one for columbus day!!!!!
