Just curious - to all the RN's, NP's, CNS's, etc. out there.....

If you had to do it all over again, would you have became a doctor instead?

Keep in mind all factors to consider: malpractice rates, med school tuition, time committment......

No. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go to nursing school fresh out of high school and get my BSN (and not party too much so I could make those 8:00 chemistry classes). :)

I would do the same. I feel like kicking myself for not going to college at 18! First of all, my dad would have paid my way and secondly...how much fun do you have at college??? What a dimwit I was! :chuckle

A resounding NO....I am not interested in being a doctor. I would hate to be a slave to the phone, pager, etc. Besides, nurses do all the nice work at the bedside and the doctor usually floats in for a few minutes a day. I think the nurses have a much bigger impact on the patient than docs...:nurse:

No way. Despite the ups and downs of being a nurse I would do it over again in a heartbeat. :)

I finished my BSN in 2003 and am applying to medical school very soon, so in answer yes:) I am in my mid twenties:)

PS I have thought long and hard about what I am getting myself into, but I am a sucker for punishment:)

No way.....................................and especially now.....I actually know of some doctors that have smaller salary than some nurses. Especially if they go into family practice and join a group. You can actually make more money as a nurse then what they make.................Definitely not worth another 8 years to me.............

i agree with suzanne4. i know alot of staff nurses that make what FP docs make. not worth 12 years of schooling unless being a doc is what you truly want to do. if i could do it over again i would have went to nursing school earlier.
