Do you watch Medical shows? - page 4
Hello, fellow nurses! The other day, I was discussing "ER" with a fellow group of nurses, and most said that they do not watch any medical shows. Most stated that they get enough of it at work. And... Read More
Apr 30, '02"Emergency" got me hooked on firemen - my first crush - Randolph Mantooth. While my sister had her side of the room plastered with Michael Jackson & Donny Osmond, I had Randolph Mantooth posters. Then he disappeared & I thought I had imagined him...... until he suddenly turned up on a soap opera many years later. "Julia" sparked the interest in me from childhood in being a nurse. I wanted to be just like her.
Never liked Medical Center - Dr Gannon was just too perfect. But Marcus Welby's partner Dr. Steve Kiley.......mmmmmmm!
The guy in the parking lot - Trapper John in civilian life after M*A*S*H - aka Pernell Roberts - was also the eldest son on Bonanza - much better to look at than Little Joe! Theres a photo of him as Trapper John too on the Pernell Bio page at:
Apr 30, '02I love EMERGENCY just to watch Dixie Mcall, RN! I have been known around these parts (my house) to scream obsceneties at the doctors treatment of nurses on ER. I enjoy it to a point, but like others here, get tired of the same doctors sad lives soap operaishness thing. Ever since Julianna Margoles (Nurse Hathaway) and George Clooney left...hasn't been quite the same.
My husband however LOVES that a-hole doctor, the bald cheif of staff surgeon guy who always insults everyon...
May 1, '02yes he was a hottie on emergency...but i think he was even hotter on loving which turned into the city before it was cancelled. i love middle-aged men with "a touch of gray".
wasn't marcus welby's partner dr. steve kiley portrayed by james brolen(sp?)...again, he was a hottie doing the show but he's so distinguished now...just ask barbara, his wife....heehee :wink2:
May 1, '02yeah i was into randolph too...he was soo hot...lol
how can you say adam cartright was hotter than little joe?
hotter than hoss maybe....lol
May 1, '02cause Adam was a MAN & Little Joe was just a little boy. Adam was dark, mysterious, and complicated. Joe was a kid. :P
May 1, '02No way, no how. They just are not accurate enough. I think their medical consultants must go on vacation a lot-they seem not to get even the basics right!
Before I was a nurse, I liked St. Elsewhere, and LOVED M.A.S.H.
Of course, I always wanted to be a military nurse.
What tore it for me was Rescue 911. I used to nearly spazz trying to watch it, there were so many errors!
Now I like Forensic Files, and similar shows.
May 1, '02Love all the medical shows, although it's tough to watch the L&D shows (to "perfect", all with well behaved, in control moms, always healthy babies).
May 2, '02Hi yall
from deep in the heart of texas
I never watch ER or any other medical shows at all, I work it enough that it has no interest to me at all. Now I do like the golf channel
keep it in the short grass yall
May 2, '02My family refuses to allow me to watch medical shows, because I can't keep my mouth shut! I have to point out the errors, sometimes passionately. My personal favorite was a show that I can't remember (a soap opera, I think), where the "doctor" strode forcefully into the hospital room, took one look at the dying "patient" and shouted, "I want 50 cc of Demerol IV stat!"
May 3, '02I love ER and Third Watch. Also enjoy watching MASH. I've been hooked on medical shows since I was little. I was lucky enough to be raised in a house full of medical/trauma junkies. Now, I sit and laugh at all the little errors. The scary thing is that sometimes my family doesn't get it....
May 3, '02I work the ER and Yes I watch ER, love ER, as a matter of fact just got off a 12 hr night shift from HELL and, came home and watched ER(taped ofcourse) and boohooed all the way through it..The episode was "The Letter" which tells of Mark Greene dying..(he was always my fave character..him and Carter) Sometimes these shows make me step back when I am feeling like *why do I do this* and it sort of gives me a new perspective even if it was made in hollywood(or chicago) coz sometimes I'm so busy at work I don't have time to step back but sitting on the couch I can even if its with The "ER" gang.
Ofcourse I used to watch Trapper John MD and remember Marcus Welby MD( i was a kid, but i remember) and I was a Big fan of St. Elsewhere(never missed it). Found a new show Called CSI too great forensic stuff, find that really interesting
