In a snowy climate, we're required to stay on campus if staff is unable to get in D/T bad weather etc. We were talking at work and none of us carry a change of clothes in case we need to stay, so we were wondering if we're the oddballs.

Do you keep a change of clothes in your car/ locker?

Forget the clothes, I am still wondering at the first poster that said the hospital requires them to stay during bad weather. Does that mean you have to stay during your time off- not getting paid, so you will be available if they need you? Please explain.

I'm in LTC, not a hospital. If the oncoming nurse can't make it in D/T weather, I can't legally abandon my residents. If I work a noc shift, I'm the only licensed nurse in the building... and I'm legally obligated to stay.

Usually not. But maybe not a bad idea. Once I phoned my husband to bring an extra pair because of a horrible poopy mess got on myself.
